La Política Agraria Común (PAC) cuenta con casi el 40% del presupuesto europeo y condiciona la gestión de la mayor parte del territorio de la Unión Europea. Entre sus objetivos está asegurar la producción de alimentos, apoyar una renta agraria digna y la mejora de la calidad de vida en el medio rural, preservando los recursos naturales y el clima.
La nueva PAC debe por tanto apoyar sistemas que ayuden a cumplir estos objetivos vitales para la viabilidad y sostenibilidad de la sociedad europea, donde los Sistemas de Alto Valor Natural (SAVN) marcan un hito.

The Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) absorbs almost 40% of the EU Budget and drives landuse on the majority of the EU territory. Among its objectives are to provide affordable food for EU citizens and a fair standard of living for farmers, to promote balanced territorial development and sustainable management of natural resources.
The new CAP should therefore support the farming systems that help to deliver these vital objectives for the sustainability of European society, and High Nature Value farming has a key role to play.
